Obtain 3 business dress shirts minimum. Have white dress shirts that are made of
1. One hundred percent finely combed cotton, in high stitch counts, sewn with single needle stitching. They can be made of pure cotton pinpoints, revered Pima, long staple Egyptian cotton, domestic oxford weaves, blended broad cloth, or a cotton polyester blend. They may be made of Teflon coated cotton. 1 is to be plain with a French cuff. 1 is to have a barrel cuff.
Shirts can be in any color that you select except for work avoid shirts in the color purple or pink. Avoid picking a shirt that matches too exactly with a tie or suit. It can be too much night style for business work dress.
2. Test several types of shirt collars to determine which ones fit. A high pointed collar is suited to a round and an older face. A spread collar can be matched to a long face. Collars are to be hand (turned) set and fitted to a quarter inch and proportioned at the back and the front. Allow two fingers to fit comfortably between the neck and it. Each is to look well and form an upside down V at the throat. Each collar is to have removable stays. Remove each stay prior to setting the shirt aside for laundering. Place them back before wearing it again. A collar can be buttoned down, but why?
*4. Business shirts are to be worn with ties. They can be worn without ties with the top button buttoned. They may be worn open necked with one button unbuttoned. Nevertheless, there is that place for a closed button collar and a tie. At night, and casually, the first two front buttons can be left unbuttoned.
5. Shirts are to have long sleeves with a hem that drapes past the shoulders that are without a crease, unless part of a uniform. Shirt plackets are to have buttonholes and buttons. Button these buttons unless you intend to roll up the sleeves. Cuffs on a day shirt are to be French cuffs, when you work in a very conservative office and/or for formal business occasions. Shirts can have barrel cuffs. Each shirt cuff is to extend to the wrist bone of each hand. You may elect to wear cuff links or to buy cuff button covers. You could elect to undo your cuffs and to tuck each under while you work. Be sure your arms are clean.
6. Shirts are to be professionally fitted. Male business shirts are to be devoid of darts. Custom shirts (made to measure) are to be devoid of pockets. The fewer pockets on your shirts the better.
7. Each shirt can have your initials placed on the left side of it five to eight inches above your waist. Initials can be placed on the left shirt cuff in front. Each is to be seen only by accident.
8. Shirts are to be selected to complement any jackets and/or ties to be worn with them. At a minimum, wear a shirt that is lighter than your tie and/or the jacket to be worn with it.
9. You can get a business casual shirt which tells the name of your company and/or where you work. It can say what you do, who you are, and/or what you have to offer. It may say where you have been or where you want to go. It could just have your name and number. Go sport.
10. Informally you may wear any shirt of choice that is not offensive and/or by which you are not offended. You can wear dual shirts one over the other. Dark over shirts hide perspiration better than light ones. You may attempt to master the three-layer look.
11. Short sleeve shirts can be worn. Each sleeve hem is to drape off your shoulders, and the end is to touch or go past the forearm when the elbow is bent at a ninety-degree angle.
You can remember to do this for after the time you graduate college.
Your casual shirt can just reflect your allegiance to a social mind set without ever showing so much as a logo.

Business Shirt and Sock Garters
Wear combination shirt and sock garters. This practice is learned in the military. Attach one hook and snap to the sock and one hook and snap to the front and back of the shirt. Do the same thing with the other garter on the other side.
You can wear calf garters, if you can still find them. Garters are to be washed by hand as required. You can omit wearing garters unless you are really dressing to impress.
