An advanced place setting is to begin with a basic place setting. It is set from the inside out, in kind, (and read from outside in.) At some point additional items of flatware can be brought in when a course is served.

Set no more than four glasses at one place setting at table.

When a first course is to be served at table, a napkin is set center each place setting.

When a first course is to be in place before the time people come to the table, the napkin is to be placed to the left of the forks. Not under it. Now, set that napkin.
